This morning started with a bit of a panic. Jolted by the phone ringing at 6:00 a.m., my heart raced and my eyes popped open. So much for palm trees, sandy beaches, and the suntan I was working on. Being vitamin D deficient, I seemingly strive for sunlight in my dreams. But not to digress, I stumbled out of bed, glanced at the clock, then ambled towards some raspy female voice coming from our answering machine. I caught the tail end of the message and flipped out: "...hope your surgery goes well today!"
Surgery? Today? It's 6:00 AM! I'm late!
Stubbed my toe, hit the door frame, and tapped on the bathroom door. Hubby was still getting ready for work.
"Why didn't you wake me up? I'm late!"
"No, you're not," he said.
"I'm supposed to be at the hospital at 5:30!"
"Not today, sweetheart." I heard a chuckle behind the door.
I calmed down, replayed the message, and sure enough - my youngest sister had, once again, mixed the dates up. She called last month, too, thinking my surgery was March 18th. Note to self: Mail that girl a calendar. Oh well, at least she remembers. Sorta.
There's a part of me that has dreaded this surgery. Admittedly, I'm wimpish. But mostly I'm thankful, because the Lord has gone out of His way to make Himself real to me whenever I've felt discouraged or wondered if anyone really cared. What He's revealed to me is precious. But those stories will have to wait. Rest assured, He is getting me through this with everything I need, and so much more.
See you in a few days, and thanks for all your sweet prayers!
